Friendly staff and excellent location in the heart of Dublin.

Pricey for campus accomodation. Couldn't get TV to work.

"This was without doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff were pleasant enough, but the quality of the accommodation is dreadful. The first room I had was poor, no sound on a broken tv, the shower wouldn't switch off and then when I moved rooms, the corridor I moved to had no working lightbulbs and I had to rely on the light from the screen of my mobile phone to see where the lock was on my new room door. It would be a depressing place to stay for more than a few days. Add to that the location in a busy one-way traffic system and the noise the traffic causes and there is no pleasure in staying at this hotel. It felt like a punishment to be there at the end of a working day." (97037974)

"The hotel is a paradise for the traveler. It has everything you need. It's near Goerge Street,Grafton Street, and St.Stephen's Greene. the airport bus dropped me off a few blocks away from the hotel for 1.70 euros. I could take the bus back to the airport at Dawson Street ( a few blocks from the hotel) for 7 euros. The city tour bus can be taken near the hotel too. The room is clean, comfortable, the staff is friendly and courteous. I wish I could find a hotel like that everywhere I go. It's the best value I have ever gotten." (3305135259)

It is nice, comfortable, clean and conveniently located.

It was perfet! I would like to find a hotel like that everywhere I go.

    very handy location.

Good central location, easy walking distance to Temple Bar, shopping, central attractions. Room clean and tidy, more than adequate for time spent in it!

from San diego , United States;US on  September 28, 2005

"The Mercer Court is not a hotel nearly as much as it is a premier hostel. In reality it is an ensuite dormitory with the minimum necessary services such as towels, soap, linen and breakfast. It was clean and tidy and I found that as a single traveler it met my needs exactly. Its location can not be beat as it is 5-10 minutes from the Temple Bar entertainment district and 10-15 minutes from the National Museum and Gallery. There were loads of restaurants within easy walking distance. Breakfast is continental and a bit slim and parking will cost you extra if you have a car." (2617005)

Location. 5-10 mintute walk from Temple Bar Area but far enough away to be quite for a good nights rest.

Parking is provided an extra cost at the Surgeon's CarkPark. Even after a discount by the hotel, it still cost me around $8 US per day. Considering the price of the hotel was so cheap compared to other places, I was not that concerned, however, I would prefer to just have the price either included in the price of the hotel or at least publicise a little better what the cost of parking will be so that I could factor it into my decisionmaking processing when choosing a hotel. Breakfast was a little slim and the breakfast staff was completely overwhelmed every morning.

"The rooms are basic but very clean - the hotel's central location makes it a very good base for a trip to Dublin if you want cheap accomodation and don't intend to spend a lot of time in your hotel." (2564353)

    Excellent central location, friendly staff

Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be appreciated

"We were not aware that the rate included breakfast, which was a nice surprise. The facilties in the room were poorly maintained - we had to ask 3 times to have the shower fixed as it kept falling off, the blind was broken and also kept falling off, and we had to fix the toilet ourselves as it wouldn't flush when we arrived." centeral location

rooms were very bland, without tea making facilities rare in our widely travelled experience's.

"The standard of accommodation being offered ." (2697574)

Breakfast which was the worst I have ever had in any hotel. The rooms should be upgraded from the equivalent of 60's student halls of residence which they currently resemble .

  • 2/10 Anonymous (Solo leisure traveller)

"This is not a hotel. It is in fact student accomodation, halls, that is used in the summer months for travellers, this is not explained on this booking website so I was quite surprised that my room was of this type. The walls were painted breeze blocks, there were no coffee making, ironing or hairdryer facilities in the room. The tv could tune into one or two tv channels and these were somewhat 'snowy' at the best of times. Housekeeping staff sometimes bothered to service the room during my stay and when they did service the room they left my door unlocked after doing so. The bathroom was filthy upon arrival. The shower was hot for about 30 seconds before running cold. Breakfast was continental only and hit and miss some mornings as to whether you got toast/tea/coffee/juice. Corridors were noisy so when other guests came back to the rooms even minimal noise was amplified. The room looked like a prison cell as seen on tv so was not comfortable nor relaxing." (2648791)

Central location, close to amenities and attractions.

Staff were appalling; unhelpful, rude and aggressive. I witnessed many guests being dealt with abruptly and rudely on a daily basis by front desk staff even when they just asked for a recommendation of somewhere to eat at lunchtime.

"Check in process riculously slow and bureacratic (things being done on paper and then entered painfully slowly onto computer). Room key did not fit door so were given alternative room. Strange smell in one room, other room contained dirty towl and left over toiletries (toothbrush etc) suggesting it had not been cleaned properly. On check out were incorrectly told we had not paid enough by the same receptionist who had taken our payment the night before. Spent 20 minutes trying o explain, were refused access to a manager, were told it was not the receptionist's problem, finally she accepted that they had a problem with the computer system and we could leave - such a waste of time. Also would question the use of the name hotel - it's more like a boarding house (has a very institutional feel) Very functional for a place to sleep given the central location and the relatively good price but not somewhere you would want to spend any time at all relaxing."
